Description

If a characterful thatched property in a country setting is top of your wish list, then look no further than this superb converted stable block. It is located within the curtilage of the Hode Farm estate on the outskirts of Bridge and approached along a lane flanked by farmland.

Entering via a wide period front door you can immediately appreciate the quality of the craftmanship. The sizeable entrance hall has ceramic, wood effect tiled flooring, oak skirting, oak doors which feature throughout the property and a contemporary cloakroom and coat cupboard. Double oak and glass doors open into the impressive lounge with a central display unit, French doors to the terrace, touch control electric curtains and a modern log burner. The entrance hall also provides access to a spacious bedroom with a built in, mirror-fronted double wardrobe and an ensuite shower.

The stunning open plan kitchen and dining area has a partially double height ceiling, exposed beams, a magnificent central modern chandelier and French doors to the terrace. The contemporary kitchen includes flat fronted units with Silestone quartz worktops housing high end appliances and a large breakfast bar with additional flat fronted units underneath.

A secondary hallway leads to the main bedroom with two built in double wardrobes, black out blinds and a luxurious en suite. This hallway includes an airing cupboard, understairs storage and a wood and glass staircase to the first floor that leads to two characterful mezzanine rooms with vaulted ceilings. One has an original arched crossbeam and the other has an original vertical beam. The oak and glass staircase in the entrance hall takes you up to a contemporary family bathroom, a laundry room and two double bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and built in wardrobes including one with exposed beams and the other with eaves storage.

The secluded rear garden is surrounded by high hedging with an extensive Indian sandstone terrace and well established beds with shrubs and perennials. There is external lighting, and a large garden shed as well as plenty of off road parking with EV charger.

What the Owner says:

We moved here 12 years ago and love everything about this property. We have enjoyed putting our own stamp on the property while still retaining its original character. The location is perfect with countryside all around us, yet only two and a half miles from Canterbury city centre with its historic buildings, high street stores, individual shops and a great selection of pubs, restaurants, schools and universities. There is also the Marlowe theatre and two mainline stations including Canterbury West where fast trains can whisk you to St Pancras in under an hour.
Bridge is a friendly village with two pubs including one with a Michelin Star restaurant and the renowned Pig Hotel. There is also a small supermarket, a chemist, a good primary school, a medical centre, dentist and hairdresser and easy access to motorway links for London.
