Description

Tudor Cottage, with its black and white exterior, lives up to its Tudor inspired name but it was actually built in the1920s and totally refurbished and updated by the current owners. It nestles in the midst of 1.33 acres of grounds surrounded by farmland and the North Downs AONB and approached down a country lane on the outskirts of Aldington village.

There is a spacious driveway for off road parking and a double oak framed carport with an attached building incorporating two office/studios. A pathway leads to the front porch flanked by spacious lawns, shrubs, mature trees and a large pond. There is a studded oak door that opens into the welcoming reception hall with its exposed ceiling beams, oak staircase, a modern cloakroom and engineered oak flooring that flows throughout the ground floor. A charming snug has exposed beams, shelving and a box bay window, while the superb triple aspect L-shaped open plan living area includes partially separate sitting and dining and a kitchen/breakfast room. It has three sets of French doors to the rear garden, painted beams and a trendy two-way log burner between the dining and sitting areas. The kitchen features a large square butcher’s block style breakfast bar and shaker style units housing various appliances, a door to a utility room, a back door to the rear terrace and a boiler room.

Upstairs there is a trendy family bathroom with Canadian maple flooring and five bedrooms with engineered oak flooring. One is set up as an office, while three are doubles have fitted wardrobes and delightful views and the dual aspect main bedroom has a ‘walk through’ dressing room and a contemporary ensuite shower room.

Outside there is a spacious terrace for al fresco dining, large swathes of lawn bordered by tall trees that back onto fields, a vegetable garden and fruit trees. A separate area includes a large garden storage shed and a high hedge that leads to a paddock that could be converted for leisure pursuits.

What the Owner says:

We bought the property some eight years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed redesigning and refurbishing it from top to bottom. We love it here because it is quiet and peaceful and the views are stunning, but we are looking for another project and hope new owners will enjoy everything here, whether as a permanent home or a holiday country retreat.
It is only half a mile to Aldington village with its church, pub, a good primary school, a tennis club, convenience store. post office and the Quarry House Bistro. Many celebrities have lived in the village including Noel Redding, who was bass player for the Jimmy Hendrix Experience and previously owned our house. The nearby Evegate business park includes a café/deli, micropub and artisan shops and the A20 provides access to the M20. Trains from Ashford International take 37 minutes to London and the town includes schools, restaurants, pubs, shops, supermarkets and the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet.
