Description

This majestic detached residence was totally renovated 14 years ago but the period features including the original staircase, wood floors and fireplaces with open fires were either retained or replaced. It also provides flexible accommodation making it an ideal multi-generational home with a whole floor for adult or older children and a separate ground floor area that could be a granny annexe or offices, while the drawing room and gardens are ideal for entertaining.

A driveway leads to the garage while a pedestrian gate opens onto a pathway flanked by hedges and lawns. The spacious reception hall includes a cloakroom and the oak staircase and leads to the fabulous dual aspect 32.2ft drawing room with original inset shelving, a bay window and a superb fireplace while the adjacent sitting room also includes an original shelving unit, a fireplace and access to the rear terrace. The dual aspect kitchen/dining room features a range cooker and flat fronted units with stand-alone appliances, a central island, space for a dining table and a stable door to the garden. A separate area includes a scullery, home office, a family room, boiler room, wet room, utility, rear access to the garage and a door to the garden.

The beautiful oak staircase leads to the galleried first floor corridor with a family bathroom, separate toilet and at least four double bedrooms. These include a large dual aspect with a seating/study area, another with a fireplace and a third with a fitted cupboard. While the min bedroom has a large bay window and a dressing room. There is also a studio/hobby room and a storage room. The replica second floor staircase leads to three double bedrooms, a bathroom and a wet room, eaves storage and a large cupboard.

Beautifully landscaped and secluded rear gardens greet you as your walk outside onto the spacious crazy paved terrace with a path to lawns, a pond, shrub beds and trees flanked by the original brick wall.

What the Owner says:

It took 18 months to complete the renovation and we were particularly proud of our achievement and have loved living here ever since. It has been a fantastic family home but we are starting a new chapter in our lives. The location is very convenient as it is only a 15 minute walk to Folkestone West station where trains to St Pancras take less than an hour and we can easily stroll to Sandgate with its good primary school, beach, numerous restaurants and gourmet shops. While Folkestone is a delightful seaside town with its restaurants, individual shops, the Creative Quarter and the rejuvenated Harbour Arm. There are also excellent state education and sports facilities.
