Get up to Speed with Fast WiFi

With more people working from home due to the affect of Covid-19 and attending online meetings, the need for fast internet speeds has grown immensely. 

A new survey by OMDIA, found that broadband speeds are one of the biggest attractions for potential homebuyers.

The communications firm ran a survey involving 294 estate agents and found that 20% of agents agreed that broadband quality is an important factor for buyers.*

23% of agents agreed that buyers focus on the size of the property, with 18% of agents finding that the number of bedrooms was one of the most important factors.

The sharp rise in hybrid working and home-office lifestyle has risen the importance of internet speeds to a new level and, with online meetings and strong connectivity being a necessity, it is no surprise that many movers are focused on their internet connectivity. 

Top-quality broadband providers such as BT, Sky, and Virgin Media all provide new 5G services. However, Sky had found itself in trouble during late-July this year when broadband customers were unable to connect to the internet across Norfolk, Suffolk, down to London and the South-east.

The survey also found that there had been a 69% increase of homebuyers questioning the quality of the broadband within properties.

Overall, 38% of agents said that fast, reliable broadband was within the top three priorities for homebuyers.

The attraction of a good connectivity speed has been said to add around £5,000 to the value of your property, which is why it may be good to check on your property's broadband speeds before you sell or look to upgrade in preparation for your selling journey.
