How To Get Rid of Pesky Ants | 2 minute read

It’s the time of year when the weather starts shining, flowers are blooming and insects begin to explore again.

In May, one of the most common home invasion perpetrators is ants! Ants invading your home can be quite a nuisance, but with a few simple steps, you can send them packing. Here’s how to deal with these uninvited guests and win the battle in your home.

  1. Clean, Clean, Clean!

Ants are attracted to sweet food sources and crumbs. It’s good to do a deep clean as you as you spot a six-legged home invader. Try and eliminate them before they start telling their friends all about the hot cross bun on the side.

  1. Identify the trail

Ants leave pheromone trails for the buddies to follow, so sit back and watch the route the ants take. When you know the trail they are leaving. You can clean the trail using white vinegar or peppermint.

Disrupting the trail will batten down the hatches for a little bit, but not solve the problem…

  1. Locate the source

Following the ant trail can help lead you to the source of the ants. They will always need to return back to feed their queen ants, so once you have located the nest of ants, you can take further measures.

Depending on how much you like ants, you can deal with them in different ways. Blocking the entry points is a great start. An old wives trick is using tin foil to temporarily fill in any small cracks!

You can also decide how you’d like to deal with the invaders who are persistent. There are a number of bug sprays and powders that have been proven effective, but for those looking for something a little less harsh, baking soda mixed with honey and water in a small bowl can be just as effective!

Now you can enjoy the sunny weather without having to fuss over tiny home invaders!
