Our awards beginnings

Wards have been focused on giving back to our local area since we first opened our doors, believing that supporting our community is integral to helping our community thrive and grow. Our colleague's passion for helping and raising money for local charities inspired us to go a step further.

In 2003, we held our first Wards Children's Awards to celebrate our community and highlight some amazing children who have overcome so much. 

Every year we receive a huge influx of heartwarming and heartbreaking stories from families and charities who put forward some incredibly strong and brave children for an award. 

We quickly realised that these awards mean so much to everyone who takes part so, the next year, we hosted the second Wards Children's Awards and have been continuing ever since.

Celebrating incredible children

Every year, we've met and awarded some incredible children who have brought joy and laughter to many, even when their illnesses limit them. 

We've shared some wonderful stories of children supporting their parents to saving their family members' lives, and we are so proud to call them our 2022 winners.

Nominate a child
The day of a lifetime

Nominate an incredible person, family or charity

Every summer, we open nominations for anyone to put forward the name of an incredible person, family or charity that they feel deserving of an award. With the help of our friends at Kent Online, we accept hundreds of nominations from across the Southeast and put them forward to a panel to help choose our winners. 

Once we have chosen our winners, they are invited to the awards, where invitees can dress up and join in with our chosen theme! We've seen themes like the Wild West, famous films, and even fairytales!
